False Pretences Charge Charged with obtaining money on false pretences Patrick Thomas Quinn, aged 50, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment in the Police Court on Saturday. Body on Beach The body of a woman, Annie Smith, aged 45, single, was found at Brighton, Christchurch on Saturday on the beach. She had been seen an hour earlier, apparently in good health. Motorists Break Legs Two youths, Andrew and George Walker, aged 19 and 14 respectively, were riding on a motor-cycle down Dominion Road about 10 a.m. on Saturday, when the machine skidded and they crashed to the roadway. Both received fractured legs and had to be taken to hospital. Their condition is not serious. Their father lives in May Road, Mount Roskill. Mr. W. H. Murray to Speak In connection with the Mayoral contest, Mr. W. H. Murray will address electors in the Leys Institute, Ponsonby, on Tuesday evening. Mr. Murray will deal with the needs of~ Auckland and criticise the actions of the retiring council, at the same time outlining his own policy for the advancement of the city. Indicting the Council A trenchant criticism of the Auckland City Council will be given by Mr. T R. Lundon, candidate for the position of councillor at his Anal meeting to be held in the Town Hall concert rhamber on IVlonday evening. Mr. Lundon will deal alleged maladministration of civic affairs genSany and outline his own policy for the conduct of the city’s business.
