BURGLARY AT HOTEL
ARREST OF TWO MEN ADMITTED TO BAiL WAIHI, To-day. At the Waihi Magistrate’s Court this morning Charles Henry Bennie, married. 38, and Albert Hales, single, 23. were charged with having broken and entered the storeroom of the Rob Roy Hotel about 8 o’clock on Saturday evening, with intent to commit a crime. They were remanded to appear tomorrow morning, Sergeant Cal well stating that he understood one of the accused would plead guilty. Mr. J. B. Beeche, for Hales, said that his client had a complete answer to the charge, and Hales was admitted to bail on his own recognisance of £ 25. The sergeant added that the charge against Bennie was fairly clear, and he was admitted to bail in the sum of £SO. It is alleged that on Saturday evening two men were discovered in the act of trying to steal a case of beer from the Rob Roy Hotel. The back door had been broken open and the case was in the passage when the men were found.
