“THE DOCTOR’S SECRET”
PARAMOUNT’S FIRST ALL-TALKIE Paramount’s first all-dialogue picture, “The Doctor’s Secret,” is the first of the weekly "talkie” releases from Paramount. A complete Paramount talking progremme will be featurtd at the principal theatres in the main cities of New Zealand as soon as installations can be made. "The Doctor’s Secret” contains dialogue from start to finish. Ruth Chatterton, the prominent Broadway star, plays the main role, other important members of the cast being H. B. Warner, John Loder, Robert Edeson, Wilfred Noy and Ethel Wales.
S. S. van Dine, the author of mystery stories, who keeps his own identity shrouded by the cloak of a pseudonym, personally wrote the dialogue for the story, “The Canary Murder Case.” The Paramount all-talking version of his all-talking picture will be released in Sydney shortly, and there will also be a silent version for those houses not equipped with sound-picture apparatus.
