JUNIOR TENNIS PLAYERS
TOURNEY AT WELLINGTON COMPETITION NEXT MONTH Tress .-lssoctafitm WELLINGTON, Sunday. Owing to the initiative and enthusiasm of Mr. W. J. Melody, of Wellington, the first comprehensive New Zealand junior tennis championship for boys and girls under 18 will be held next month on the Tennis Association’s courts at Wellington. Each association is allowed to nominate juniors of both sexes. Entries will close with the secretary of the New Zealand Association, Wellington. on April 30. Tho association guarantees £1 toward each player’s expenses, and the remainder will be borne proportionately by the players of the local association concerned. Fares are to be paid from a accumulated fund. All *
players will b« billeted in Wellington during the tournament without any ' her expense. Already entries have t en notified from the Canterbury, Auckland. Wellington. Wairarapa. and Wanganui Associations. A special committee has been set up by the New Zealand Association, and all boys and girls entering will be properly looked after and assured of helpful games, even should they be eliminated in the early stages of the championships. The tournament will represent a bold step to further the cause of junior tennis.
