RAILWAY SERVANTS’ PRESIDENT

MR. J. CHURCHHOUSE ELECTED Press Association WELLINGTON, Saturday. A national ballot under the preferential system has been conducted by the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants for the election of president to hold office during the next two years. The candidates were: J. Churchhouse, retiring president, Carterton; M. Connelly, former president, Dunedin; E. J. Dash, Timaru; J. Elliott, Newmarket; A. J. Morison, Hillside; and S. Schofield, Christchurch. On the fifth count Messrs. Churchhouse and Connelly remaining in the ballot, Mr. Churcliouse was elected by a majority of 653 votes.
