On behalf of the United Ratepayers it is said that the majority of ratepayers’ and electors’ associations formed in various parts of the city have linked up in the formation of the parent body, of which Mr. H. P. Taylor is president. The small number who have not associated themselves are sympathetic and have expressed their intention of linking up later. The expressed aims of the movement are “based upon the determination to eliminate waste and extravagance, and to obtain efficiency.” Each association will act as an independent unit on any question that may interest it, but for the purpose of consolidating influence and obtaining the fullest expression of opinion on important questions of policy, loans, and the like, the associations will meet from time to time under the auspices of the main body.
