FOUND ON ROADWAY
MAN BADLY HURT ACCIDENT AT CHRISTCHURCH Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. A resident of Medbury, Mr. William Edward Butcher, aged 52, was found in a senu-conscious condition by the Hurunui Bridge early this morning. He was suffering from severe injuries, and it is thought he was knocked down by some vehicle. Mr. W. £5. Fitzsimmons, who lives in a hut near by, heard groans outside his door, and there found Mr. Butcher, who had apparently crawled to the spot. Medical attention was secured, and the injured man was removed to Waikari Hospital. Mr. Butcher’s chief injury was a deep wound on the face, from the left eye to the ear, the eye being completely destroyed. Up till late this evening he was still semi-conscious, and unable to give any account of how he received his injuries.
