PLEDGE FORGOTTEN

LABOURER FINED £2 10/Promises apparently mean little to Angus McKay. On Thursday he entered into a bond to g'ive up liquor. Yesterday he was so drunk that he had to be arrested. McKay, a seaman, aged 29. pleaded guilty to being found drunk in Wellesley Street and breaking the terms of his prohibition order. Sub-Inspector McCarthy reminded the magistrate that McKay had been prohibited on Thursday, following his conviction on a charge of committing mischief by wrenching a gate from its hinges in front of a Hobson Street property. Fines of £2 on the first charge and 10s for breach of the order were imposed. Default was fixed at nine days.
