FIRE IN TEA-SHOP

MUCH DAMAGE DONE KINDLING CATCHES ALIGHT When Mrs. G. E. Hyde was drying kindling wood in an oven at the back of her tea-rooms at IS3 Symonds Street about 10.30 last evening the wood caught fire and set alight to the woodwork of the kitchen. The whole of the kitchen was soon m flames and the city Are brigade had great difficulty in getting the fire under control. Considerable damage was done to the stock and fittings in the front part of the shop. The fittings and the stock in the shop were insured for approximately £ 500. Mrs. l-Iyde lives at 145 Ponsonby Road. The building was owned by Mr. G. Winstone.
