CLOSING DAY TO-MORROW DETAILS OF RACING To-morrow afternoon will see tin close oi the yachting season in Auckland. Cruising and harbour races ! will be held under the auspices of the i Auckland Yacht and Motor-Boat As- l sociation, to mark the event. With the exception of Richmond, all local clubs will participate, and all boats ’ will start together in their respective ! class races regardless of the clubs to which they may belong. Handicaps ■ will be declared and prizes awarded I by each club separately. Keel -yachts, mullet boats ami launches will race to Islington Bay. and harbour courses will be covered by the SStar boats and 18-footers and smaller classes. The starting line for all events will be from the tower on King’s Wharf to a buoy moored north. The course for the larger keel yachts, classes A and B, is from starting line, thence round outside of Kungitoto and Motutapu, finishing between the launch Linda and mark boat in Islington Bay. observing sandspit beacon, Bean Rock lighthouse, and the red buoy off Narrow Neck as fairway marks. All other fairway marks are to be disregarded. The smaller keel yachts, classes O and E, and the 26ft, 22ft, and. 20ft boats, | will race over the following # course: : Start from King’s Wharf, thence round Etuder’s Spit buoy on starboard hand, : to finishing line in Islington Bay’, ob- j serving sandspit, Bean Rock, and the ; luminous buoys in Rangitoto Channel I (both going out and returning!, and j the red beacon off Rangitoto, near ! Islington Bay. The course for the launches is from starting line direct to Islington Bay. finishing between the launch Linda and mark boat, observing sandspit, Bean Rock, and red beacon off Rangitoto near Islington Bay as fairway marks. For the'Star, M, V. S, T. X. and Y classes, the course is from starting line, thence round sandspit beacon, thence round Resolution buoy, thence round outer mark of starting line, twice round, finishing across starting line, rounding all marks on starboard. This course may be reversed, in which case all marks must be passed on port hand. A white flag will indicate first to sandspit, and black flag Resolution buoy. The course for class Z is the same as that for the previous classes, except that they proceed once round only. STARTING TIMES The starting times are as follow: A and B classes, 2.20; C and E, 2.23; 11 and I, 2.36; L and N, 2.44; launches, 2.52; M, 3; V and Star, 3.8; S, 3.16; T, X, and Y, 3.24; Z, 3.32. All craft must carry their registered numbers, and the requirements of the association in regard to dinghies, crews, and ballast must be strictly observed. Five shapes will be used for starting, instead of flags. In the event of a boat being over the line, she will be recalled from King’s Wharf, where an official will use numbers as well as a megaphone. The officials in charge of the racing will be: Starter, Mr. A. J. Collings; judge for harbour races, Mr. W. A. Wilkinson; timekeepers, Messrs. G. E. Laycock and A. J. Codings; judge for cruising races, Mr. E. J. Kelly; timekeeper, Mr. W. 13. Ross.
