HOLIDAY FOR NURSES
WELLINGTON’S DECISION Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. “For some weeks now by a readjustment of the hours of - service of the nursing staff, nurses have been getting a day a week off. This we hope to continue,” said the chairman of the Wellington Hospital Board at its meeting. Outlining new works to be undertaken, he remarked that a word should be said concerning the necessity for further addition to the Nurses’ Home, consequent upon the general expansion and needs of the staff, to enable them to enjoy a day off from their trying conditions of service. This had been expected to he provided them, not only by the general public, but also by the Government, which had urged upon all hospitals, where possible, to give the staff a day a week off.
