New Zealand a Party to Seamen’s Alliance

CANADA, AUSTRALIA SOME AGITATION CAUSED (Australian and. N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. VAUCOUVER, Tues. Negotiations instituted by the Federal Seamen’s Unions in Australia and New Zealand, with a view to forming an alliance with the Federated Seamen’s Union of Canada, have been ratified by Canadian headquarters. A conference will be held at Vancouver to work out the details, and it is to be attended by,all the organisations concerned. The possible amalgamation has caused some agitation, in Canadian marine affairs, as the union would reinforce the Canadians in the fight for higher wages and better living conditions on Canadian ships. In return for this support, the Canadians are prepared to care for the members of the Australian or New Zealand unions who are stranded here, or are in hospital.
