Mr J. Bruce arrived from Welllng<on this morning by the first express. Mr. A- J- Murdoch, M.P., arrived from Wellington by the "Limited this morning and left this afternoon for Whangarei. The Hon. J. B. Donald, PostmasterGeneral. inspected the post offices at Titirangi and Glen Eden to-day at the request of the residents of those districts. Mr. James McCombs. M.P.. arrived Jn Auckland this morning from the South accompanied by Mrs. McCombs. They are staying at the Northland Hotel. Mr. John Harrington, managing director of Harringtons, Ltd., also Harringtons (N.Z.), Ltd., has arrived in Wellington and will visit the company’s branches in New Zealand. Bishop Liston, Roman Catholic Coadjutor Bishop of Auckland, left by last evening's Limited for Wellington. He will return to Auckland at the end of the week. Mr. Walter R. Saunders, assistantsr*neral manager for New Zealand of the Commercial Union Assurance c ompany, has received advice of his appointment to the position of manager for Victoria, at Melbourne. Canon Percival James, vicar of St. Mary’s Cathedral, leaves next week for England. He will be away until January, And until November the Rev. P. T. Williams, formerly warden of St. John’s College, will take his place. Prom November to January Archdeacon Hands, Vicar of the Pro-Cath-edral in Suva, will be in charge. Mr. Victor J. Cornaga, formerly licensee of the Masonic Hotel, Auckland, and the Great Northern and Criterion Hotels, Newcastle, has been appointed interstate representative of Dewar’s, Limited. Mr. Cornaga is exchampion 100 and 220 yards runner of Now Zealand. lie is a Rugby Union enthusiast, and served right through the war. Mr. W. M. Singleton, director of the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture, left by the Makura from Wellington for America and Britain on un Important mission affecting the dairy produce trade of the Dominion. While in England Mr. Singleton will investigate the factors affecting the quality of the Dominion’s butter ar*d cheese.
