PARISHIONERS’ MEETINGS

ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH At the annual meeting of parishioners of All Saints’ Church last evening it was reported, that the finances were not as satisfactory as they might be. The report of the churchwardens stated that services during the year had been well attended, particularly those held in the morning. The financial position was not considered satisfactory, as there had been a deficit for several years 'in succession. The total receipts for the year amounted to £1,280, while the expenditure totalled £1,374. This, however, included a deficit of £lB2 with which the year was opened. A queen carnival held during the year had aided considerably in reducing the amount of parish debts. Church officers for the year were elected as follow: Vicar’s warden, Mr. Edward Smith; people’s warden. Mr. M. J. Bennett; vestry, Mrs. Palmer, Mrs. Biddington, Messrs. Hunter, Morley, Blackman, Smytheman, Richmond, Pierce, Reynolds, Corringham; synodsmen, Mr. E. Smith and Mr. J. W. Manning. ST. AIDAN’S The only debt now owing on the Parish of St. Aidan’s, Remuera, is £IOO. This information was contained in the annual report which was submitted to the parishioners at a meeting on Monday evening. The Rev. H. A. Coleman presided. The annual report and balance sheet stated that there was a total income in the general account of £l,lBB, while expenditure amounted to £1,182 Income to the sustentation fund amounted to £256, with a credit of £l2O for the year. Special collections for missions and other purposes had resulted in a gain of £l6O, and the women’s guild had raised £2OO toward reducing the debt on the vicarage section. The vestry submitted plans for a proposed new parish hall to be erected on a site acquired at the corner of Meadowbank and St. Heliers Bay Roads. The work was authorised, and tenders will be called shortly. The building is to be of plain design in brick, and will serve the purpose of church, Sunday school and social hall. The total cost, inclusive of furniture, will be over £ 2.000. The following church officers were elected: Vicar’s warden, Mr. A. V. Burcher; people’s warden, Mr. E. D. Reid; vestry, Messrs. Barker, Hooper. Marbeck, Mellsop, Ryder, Short, Skegg, Stanley, Shannon and Woods: parisn representatives, Messrs. Reid, Burcher and Skegg; synodsmen, Messrs. Hogben and Skegg.
