Five Men injured in Motor Crash
CARS IN COLLISION GREAT SOUTH ROAD ACCIDENT A collision between two motorcars on the Great South Road, Papatoetoe, south of the Tamaki Bridge, at 5 p.m. yesterday, resulted in five passengers of one of the cars receiving injuries. MR. J. CROWHURST, one of the drivers, who resides opposite the scene of the accident, had partly turned into his gate when a collision occurred with another car containing five men and driven by Mr. D. H. Wallace. The latter car after the collision struck an electric power standard and overturned, coming to rest on the hood. Part of the car had to be cut away to allow the removal of one of the occupants. Those injured were:— Mr. D. H. Wallace, minor injuries. Mr. L ionel Eric Cameron, slight in- I juries and shock. Mr. Derrick Plank, abrasions and shock. Mr. Vicary Craycroft Fookes, internal injuries aud abrasions. Mr. Harry Brian Winfield, abrasions. All of the injured men were employed in the Bank of New South Wales, Auckland. The injured men were attended by Dr. J. S. Currie, of Otabuhu, and were removed to the Auckland Public Hospital in the St. John Ambulance. Mr. Plank was the only one detained in the institution, and this morning he was reported to be progressing satisfactorily. Mr. Crowhurst was travelling alone, and escaped injury except for slight abrasions to his forehead. Both cars were considerably damaged.
