A MALE CINDERELLA
RONALD COLMAN VISITS HOME lio left a beggar, and returned a prince. That is the way the English newspapers characterised Ronald Colman on his visit to England just before he started work on his new starring picture, “The Rescue,” a United Artists picture, which will be seen here shortly. The simile is admitetd by Colrnan to be somewhat apt. Rive years ago he left London, where he had lived in a cheap boarding house, and travelled third class to New York. Two months ago he returned in the President’s suite on a huge steamship, and was welcomed with mild acclaim by the English, who had formerly not known him to exist. "In fact,” said Colman, “I felt like a male Cinderella, but they tried to be very good to me, and I appreciated it.’ ’ Lilian Hall-Davis, who was originally engaged by British International Pictures to play the principal female lead part in Castleton Knight’s production. “The Plaything,” has been replaced by Estelle Brody, on account of a nervous breakdown, which will necessitate a six months’ rest.
