£I,OOO TO BE AUTHORISED MINISTER SYMPATHETIC As a result of requests by Mr. A. J. Murdoch. M.P.. the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. iL A. Ransom, is prepared to recommend that £I,OOO be authorised for work on Dysart’s Deviation. Whangarei. In a letter to Mr. Murdoch the Min ister said: “With reference to Dysart’s Deviation this work is estimated to cost approximately £I,OOO. but no provision was included on last year's estimates. “As the council is particularly anxious to have this work completed before the winter sets in and has submitted proposals to the district engi neer I have pleasure in informing you that in the event of these proposals being satisfactory. I will be prepared to recommend that the necessary authority be issued, providing the local body distinctly understands that this sum will be a first charge against its allocation for the year 1929-30.” Mr. Murdoch had also made applica tion to the Minister for grants for the Carter’s Valley and Maruo-Whananaki Roads. Inquiries regarding a further sum of £SO for Carter’s Valley Road have been referred to the district engineer. Public Works Department. The Minister has instructed the dis trict engineer to submit a requisition for the Marua-Whananaki Road Immediately the proposals which have been submitted by the local body are proved to be satisfactory by the <’•*"- eminent.
