MARATHON REVUE

RICH WALLACE FUN Rapidly approaching his 150th entertainment at St. James Theatre is the marathon revue comedian, George Wallace. Next week he will reach the big figure. “£100,000” is the unusual title of the present Wallace revue. Cheeriness is above every other pleasant feeling brought about by the Wallace witticisms. Every sketch is original. George is the village nuisance who passes under the misnomer of “Handy.” -Bickering with the gentleman who spent day after day in the homely bar of the Duck and Goose and altercations with irritable farmers fill much of George’s life. George makes the most of this part. Two “sand-sheiks,” Si Meredith and Jim Romaine, cause whole-hearted amusement with a bright sketch in the first half. Thb Two Dudleys indulge in hilarious cross-talk for a quarter of an hour, and then there are frolics by Jack Scott and Maida Jones. Marie Nyman and Marshall Crosby are as prominent as usual, and the stage band features musical hits liberally. On Thursday, May 2, the company will put on a souvenir programme for the 151st performance. George will give copies of his photograph to the audience. -
