Ho visited the stock sales in Australia and purchased several yearlings. Air. M. H. Wynyard, deputy-chairman the Auckland Harbour Hoard, returned from Wellington by this morning’s Limited. Mr. Allan Moody. the well-known Auckland solicitor, returned this morning by the Maunganui from a visit to Australia. He was accompanied by Airs. Moody. Mr. W. W. Spargo, superintending engineer of the Union Steam Ship Company in Sydney, arrived by the Maunganui this morning on a holiday trip t 0” the Dominion. Mr. W. Downs and Mrs. Downs, visitors from Sussex, England, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Maunganui. They will spend six months in New Zealand. Air. H. R. Jenkins, M.P., and Mr. N. B. Spencer left by the Aorangi last evening to attend a meeting of the directors of the Mercantile Bank in Sydney. They will return to Auckland about May U. Mr. F. Portal, who did the advance planning for the New Zealand tour of a party of English Public School boys which recently visited the Dominion, renam'd from Sydney by the Maunganui this morning. He will spend some weeks her© before returning to England. Mr. J. Binsted. first assistant locomotive engineer. North Island railways, will leave Auckland shortly for Christchurch. where he will take over the position of acting-locomotive engineer for the South Island. The Hon. A. J. Stall worthy’. Minister of Health, returned from Wellington this morning by the Limited. At the Umpire Theatre this evening lie will ureserit the prizes won in a competition held by the Eden Chamber of Commerce. Mr. G. C. Creagh, chairman of the Auckland Stock Exchange, and Mr. 11. L. Noakes. a member, left last evening by train to attend a meeting of the New Zealand Stock Exchange In Wellington. Mr. H. G. Gillespie, who s ccompanied them, will represent the Thames Stock Exchange. Mr. E. P. Andreas, the well-known Australian sportsman, arrived from Sydney by the Maunganui this morning for the pheasant and duck shooting. When ho returns he will be accompanied by Mr. Alf Court and Mr. W. Higgins, who will make a tour of the Great Barrier reef. Mr. Walter Atack, the well-known New Zealand journalist, yesterday completed his 50th year on the staff of the “Lyttelton Times.” It has been recommended to the council of the New Zealand Journalists’ Association in Auckland that he be made a life member and be presented with a gold badge.
