SUICIDE AT GISBORNE

OUT OF WORK AND WORRIED Press Association GISBORNE, Monday. An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of Mr. Fred Horne, aged 5S years, who was found shot yesterday in his boardinghouse. Evidence was given that deceased was found with a bullet in his right temple and a .22 calibre rifle alongside him. The proprietor of the boardinghouse said deceased had suffered from insomnia, and on only one occasion in the past three weeks did he get any sleep. Other witnesses stated that deceased was worried because he could get no work. The coroner. Mr. P. IT. Harper, S.M.. returned a verdict that death was due to a gunshot wound, self-inflicted while deceased was in a state of acute mental depression.
