BETTER THAN EVER
SIR HARRY LAUDER Better than ever was the opinion expressed hist evening when Sir Harry Lauder continued his season at His Majesty’s. The large audience present showed their appreciation in no uncertain manner to the great comedian, llis old songs and stories sung by himself seemed as if they were still new. His latest song, “Old Cronies,” which lie composed on, his way out to New Zealand, brought the house down. “Roamin’ in the Gloamin’ ”, known throughout the world, seemed as if it had just been composed and roused the audience' to a great pitch of enthusiasm. “When I Meet Mackay," “I’ve Just Got Off the Chain,” and other well-known favourites, kept everyone in great humour. One Irish song that Sir Harry sang to please one Irishman in the audience, made the crowd roar with laughter. Without a doubt Sir Harry Lauder has lost none of his freshness. His supporting company is par excellent, Tiki Carpenter, with his dancing, is splendid, while Rupert Hazel and Elsie Day, with their singing, pleased everybody. Fredo Brothers are very clever with their comedy acrobatic stunts, and their violin playing. Don Julian, the ca.rtoonist, and Miss Beryl Wentworth make up a splendid programme of entertainment.
“Black Eagles” is the title of a new picture announced for early production at the Paramount Studios in Hollywood. Gary Cooper, Esther Ralston and Wallace Beery are to have the principal roles in the picture, which will be produced under the direction of Lothar Mendes.
