PLAYING AREAS

ONEHUNGA RESERVE GROUNDS ALLOCATED Cr. 11. Cr. Speight, chairman of the reserves committee, reported at last evening’s meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council that the allocation of playing grounds on the recreation reserve had been made as follow: llugby Union, two grounds: Football Association, one ground: Hockey Association, one ground. In the event of the Hockey Association’s refusal, the ground will be allocated to the Rugby League Committee. It was further recommended that no charges should be levied for the use of the reserve. Cr. Speight explained that the major portion of the reserve had been levelled and sown in grass, but the committee could not open it for play for some months, until a firm turf had become established. Next year there would be sufficient grounds available for ten or eleven football matches, and sufficient to accommodate all codes. The report was adopted.
