ANOTHER MISSION
CONGREGATIONALISTS’ VENTURE REV. GEORGE JACKSON Another mission will open in Auckland on Sunday evening next, when the Rev. George Jackson, a Congregational minister, will conduct a community mission service in the Capitol Picture Theatre, at the Dominion Road tram terminus. Mr. Jackson b'elieves that there arc many men and women, and particularly young men and women, who would be interested in, and perhaps helped by, a sincere attempt to present the Christian message in a way that is closely in touch with every-day life. He has in mind the possibility of conducting a series of Sunday evening services in the heart of the denselypopulated district around the terminus for some years, but pressure of other duties has so far prevented him from taking up this piece of work. Now he is free to devote himself to the project, and hopes to secure the interest and support of those who are not attending any other service on Sunday evenings. The services are to be conducted under the auspices of the Congregational Union, but’there is no intention or desire to enter into competition with the churches already established in the district, nor to interfere in any way with the good work now being done by them. The services will be conducted in an informal, yet reverent, fashion, every Sunday evening, with bright, hearty singing in which all can join. It is proposed to establish at the close of each service an open forum for the friendly discussion of religious questions.
