NO TAX RETURNS
ACCOUNTANT FINED £2O INFORMATION NOT GIVEN Four times, in 1924, 1925, 1926 and 1927, A. W. Jones, an accountant, neglected to furnish a return of his income. For each time that he failed in giving the Commissioner of Taxes information, Jones was fined £5 by Mr. F. K. Hunt in the Police Court yesterday. Mr. Hunt said that he could not lessen the punishment, as it would be an encouragement to others to avoid supplying the details of their incomes. The evidence against Jones was to the effect that his offences were brought under the notice of the commissioner by chance information in another return.
