BOY DIES DURING TOUR
YOUNG AUSTRALIANS IN ONTARIO WARNINGS FROM CHICAGO (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) Reed. 9.5 a.m. TORONTO, Friday. William Strauchan. aged 17, a Queensland member of the Australian cadet party, died in hospital on Friday from a hemorrhage of the heart. A public service was held on Friday, and the burial will take place here on Saturday. The party will remain here till Sunday. The lad’s brother Eric is with the party. John West, aged 18, of Victoria, is at present in hospital suffering from influenza. The “Toronto Star” says the party of Australian boys who are touring Canada and the United States have received an anonymous letter and telephone calls warning them not to visit Chicago. Major Simmonds, who is in charge of the party, said he was inclined to treat the matter as a joke, but some of the people who are responsible for the tour view it in a different light. The warnings might force the cancellation of the visit, said Major Simmonds.
