HIGH-SEAS LIQUOR
TIGHTENING OF DRY LAW SOUGHT IN U.S. DIPLOMATS’ SUPPLIES (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9 a.m. WASHINGTON, Thurs. Senator Coleman L. Blease (Democra, Columbia) introduced a resolution in the Senate requesting President Hoover to enforce the prohibition law. “in the strictest sense” on vessels flying the American flag on the high seas. The measure was believed to be directed by a controversy involving the liner Leviathan, which recently passed into the hands of private interests, who announced their intention to sell liquor. Senator Blease also introduced a proposed amendment to the Constitution, to forbid the use of liquor by foreign diplomats. He also introduced a resolution requesting foreign Governments to send as their representatives only persons willing to abide by the United States Constitution.
