UNITY TENNIS DANCE

OPENING OF NEW HALL .A. recent addition to the facilities \ provided for the members of the Unity Tennis Club, Coyle Street, Edendale. has been the erection of a. new dance hall at the courts. To mark the opening of the hall an enjoyable dance was held last Tuesday evening, a large number of members and friends being present. The hall was decorated with the club's colours, and coloured lights and golden dahlias added colour to the scene. The electrical musical installation supplied perfect dance music. Mr. V. A. Coyle, chairman of the committee, explained the activities of ; the committee, which had resulted in , the erection of the hall, and also wei- I coined the guests on behalf of the club, j In introducing Mr. M. K. O’Caltaghan, ; the president, Mr. Coyle said that the j club was indeed fortunate in having ! so many keen workers. Milford, who is to be married soon to Mr. William Leyland, of Devonport, was the guest of honour on Wednesday afternoon at a china party given by Mrs. W. Ahlers, of Burgess Road. Devonport. White poppies and trails of fern made attractive decoration in the drawing-room, where the hostess received her guests in a gown of black satin crepe. Miss Hewson was wearing a black crepe de chine frock. Others present included Mrs. Hewson, Mrs. Payne, Mrs. Boyle, Mrs. Dingle, and Mrs. Gillespie. TAKAPUNA CROQUET CLUB An “at home'’ was given by the president of the Takapuna Croquet Club. Mrs. C. Cutler, on the club's lawns yesterday afternoon. Progressive croquet matches resulted as follow:—A grade. Mrs. Arthur White: B grade, Mrs. Spicer. Afternoon tea was served in the bowlers’ pavilion, where the table decorations were carried out in the club colours of | orange and blue. During the afternoon Mrs. Xeagle presented Mrs. Cutler ! with a bouquet on behalf of the mcm- ; bers of the club.
