MESSAGE IN BOTTLE STRANDED ON ISLAND "5.0.5.—1 am stranded on Piha Island. Come to my rescue. "John Andrews." This message was found in a bottle which was picked up on the West Coast Beach, Dargaville, yesterday. It is thought that the message is a hoax, hut the police are investigating to make sure. Yesterday Mr. Basil Rikys was walking along the West Coast Beach, near Dargaville, when he found the bottle lying in the sand, as though it had been washed ashore %y the tide. It was corked with a piece of flax and contained a piece of paper on which the above message had been written in a shaky hand. Mr. Rikys comnuinicatofl with the police soon after he found the message. The name of the island is evidently meant to be Pahi, which lies in the northern arm of the Kaipara Harbour, opposite a district of that. name.
