In the Market Place

BANANAS SCARCER LOW APPLE RATES There were fewer bananas offering in tho City Marts to-day, and values were higher. Apples have dropped in price and the demand is very slow. Pears, too, are hard to clear, even at low rates. Passions are in shorter supply, and there Is a fair demand for good hothouse grapes. Outdoor grapes, however, are on a poor market. Oranges continue to sell well. Tomatoes are still offering at decreased rates. Mushrooms are now coming forward in large quantities, and are meeting with a satisfactory demand. There is no lessening in the supplies ot the chief lines of vegetables. Rock melons have now gone off the market.
