“DARKENED ROOMS”
GIBBS STORY FOR “TALKIE” Another well-known English author has been added to the list of writers whose works are being made into talking pictures by Paramount. He is Sir Philip Gibbs the famous war correspondent and novelist. Other wellknown authors whose works have been made the basis of all-dialogue pictures are Sir James Barrie and Somerset Maugham. The former’s stage play, “Half an Hour,” will be seen and heard from the screen under the title of “The Doctor’s Secret,” and the Maugham work selected was “The Letter.” “Darkened Rooms” is a story laid in London, and has a background of mystery that will prove admirable material for a talking picture. Evelyn Brent and William Powell are to play j the main roles. There will be complete dialogue throughout.
