TICKETS NOT WANTED
Of tickets issued to subscribers of the Christchurch Orchestral Society 240 were not presented; that is, 240 seats were paid for and not occupied—24o chances of hearing a programme of orchestral and other music went begging. Commenting on this the chairman, Mr. R. A. Horne, said; "Either the subscribers did not bother to pass on their tickets, or people did not care to accept them.” "This is a wretched state of affairs,” says the “Christchurch Sun,” “for which it is hard to account. For the orchestra has seldom, if ever, done better work or presented better programmes than in recent years, under the conductorship of Mr. Angus Hunter, whose leaving Christchurch is a real misfortune.”
