MAIN ROADS
MR. JORDAN CONDEMNS SYSTEM Speaking at Te Papapa last evening, the member for Manuk&u, Mr. W. I Jordan, declared that the Main Highways Board had not solved the roading difficulty. He predicted that the day was not far distant when the main roads of the Dominion would be under the control of a greater authority. The allocation of 92 per cent, of the petrol tax to counties and 8 per cent to boroughs was unfair, because no provision was made for road boards and town districts. Pie also condemned the system under which loan? were provided for, a system w’hich it his opinion required immediate revision.
