SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION Tli© finals in connection with the Auckland South Suburban Croquet Association’s annual tournament were played on the Papakura lawns on Saturday. Mrs. Bullock and Mrs. Ham brook were the winners in the A section, defeating Mrs. Neil and Miss Xeil (Waiuku), two games in succession. In the final of the B section. Mrs. A. McLennan and Miss M. Cooper (Papakura), and Mrs. F. Stephens and Miss Baird (Clevedon) won one game each, and were equal on points in the third. They were unable lu finish at 4.30 p.m., and in a draw for the game Mrs. A. McLeurtan and Miss M. Cooper (Papakura) were declared the winners. The finals could scarcely have been played under werse conditions, rain falling most of the day. The president, Mrs. C. C. Munro (Clevedon) presented the trophies, and congratulated the winners and nil those who had helped to make the tournament so successful. PIAKO CHAMPIONSHIP To decide the premiership of the Piako Cricket Association a Paeroa eleven Visited Matamata on Saturday and managed to clinch the honours in the final match of the season. The game was commenced at Paeroa on April 16, when Matamata, batting first, scored 126 runs (W. Hollis 56, H. Murray 24). Paeroa responded with 117 runs for six wickets (Wright 47). The latter innings was completed at Matamata yesterday, *and the total brought up to 131. Matamata, in their second innings, made only 57 (Hollis 14, Porter 14) for seven wickets. Paeroa scored 59 runs for four wickets (Stack 20, Knight not out 19. Howard 13). Paeroa will now hold Mr. F. W. Walter's cup. WHANGAREI'S VICTORY The final game in the Whangarei Cricket Association's competition was played on Saturday. when the Whangarei team visited Hikurangi, and defeated the home team on the first innings. .Whangarei made SO runs (R. Jennings 33. R. Stevenson 31, S. MaeKenzio 10, not out). Hikurangi scored 40. For Whangarei Campbell took three wickets for six runs.
