The last phase in the invest gation of the junior high schea: system by the Minister of Educ,. tion will be reached this week when Mr. Atmore will meet the executives of the primary ari( secondary school teachers. Soon after this, the Minister’s decision is expected.
In addition, the private second*,, schools' organisation has written tn the Minister asking for an opp onu , nitv to make representations. Mr. Atmore’s position is that, while he recognises that he is committed to a revision of the present system of education, he does not admit th,r that revision necessarily consists or adopting the junior high school scheme. At the same time, while appreciating the fact that the prtm, ous administration suspended the scheme on the score of cost after scliools had been established. Minister is not satisfied that the cost would he as heavy as has represented. Hence his mind still appears to be open on the point.
