Machine-Made Beauty
Beauty is that, will o’ the wisp thing most sought after by women in this! day and age of stiff competition for the eligible male of the species. No matter what the price is, in both pain endured in the various beautifying processes and the money expended in this chase after elusive beauty, the girl who wishes to be up-to-the-minute in hair coiffeurs, lip shades, and complexion of cheeks, not forgetting an always desired sylph-like figure, must go through painful procedures and all sorts of discomforts.
It seems that beauty is turned out where beauty did not appear before solely by order. Most of the treatrendered by machines, such as hair curlers, machines which reduce undue fat, and the electric tottooing machine, which puts a permanent wave and lasting colour to milady’s lips. One of the most painful and uncomfortable methods of giving the fair one pure and smooth skin is the method of using molten wax, applied to the face and allowed to harden.
