MONEY NEEDED FOR FAMILY
BUSHMAN LENIENTLY TREATED A man who ' pawned another man's clothes to secure money for his wife and family received lenient treatment in the Police Court this morning. lie was William R. Aldred, aged .>l, a bush man. The charge against him was the theft of J?IS worth of cloth- , ing, the property of Reginald Defaur! Detective-Sergeant Kelly explainedv that Aldred and Defaur were working ; together at Putaruru last August. Do- j faur went South, leaving liis swag, j and. in spite of inquiries, he received ; no answer concerning his property. Counsel for Aldred said that it was-; the accused’s first offence. He had pawned the clothing to assist his family. Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., convicted A 1 , dred. and ordered him to conic up for j sentence when called upon. Restßu j tion is to he made.
