CELEBRATION ON 71 ST BIRTTOAI Seventy-one actors entertained Bei Greet to dinner at a London hotel rg cently. The occasion marked the approarl of Mr. Greet’s jubilee in theatrics work, and his hosts numbered 71 be cause “8.G.,” as he is generally called is 71. Actually, he has had more than 51 years of acting and theatrical manage ment. He was an amateur actor be fore he took the plunge as a profes sional. Among those present at the dinner were Leon Quartermaine, in the chaii Sir Nigel Playfair, and Fred Terry, al of whom have acted in Ben Greet com panies. The number of ex-“ Ben Greetians' must be more than a thousand. Sybl Thorndike is one distinguished ei ample among actresses. There is a proposal to give Mi Greet a. big testimonial matinee per formanee shortly, and already thre, West End theatres have been offerei for the purpose.
