Allies received the German delegates requesting an armistice in 1918, has retired, having reached the age limit. Admiral of the Fleet. Lord Wester Wemyss was born in 1864 and entered the navy In 1877. Just before the war he commanded, as a rear-admiral, the Second Battle Squadron of the Home Fleet. He was promoted vice-admiral in 1916 and admiral’ in 1919. He was Commander-in-Chief of the East Indies and Egypt Station from 1916 to 1917, when he became First Sea Lord of the Admiralty. In 1918 he was appointed a member of the War Cabinet. He was created first Baron of Wemyss in 1919.
