“SLY GROG” HOUSES
DALMATIAN RESTAURANTS SUSPECTED A HEAVY PENALTY The police have suspicions that some of the Dalmatian restaurants in the city are really “sly-grog” houses. This was stated by Sub-Inspector McCarthy at the Police Court to-day, when Mate Nizich, who kept a restaurant in Victoria Street, was charged with a breach of the Licensing Act. It was stated that Nizich was leaving for Fiji to-day, and a heavy fine would prevent his departure. Mr. Hunt: Very well. He will be fined £ls.
