MR. MACKENZIE FIGHTS HARBOUR ELECTION OPPOSITION IN FRANKLIK Unopposed as Franklin’s repr*. sentative on the Harbour Board for the past 16 years, Mr. h r Mackenzie will this election be opposed by Mr. Ebenezer Allen Mr. Thomas Clements. Deputy. Mayor of Otahuhu, presided over large gathering of residents of the dis. triet last evening, when it was decided to form a committee for the pur. pose of furthering the candidature of Mr. H. R. Mackenzie at the forthcoming Harbour Board elections. Mr. Mackenzie was present and gave a brief outline of his past s cr ! vices in connection with the board and a summary of the knowledgj gained ou his recent world tour. The following committee was set up: —Mr. J. E. Gillies, chairman- wG. V. Pearce, secretary and treasurer-' Messrs. T. Clements. J. Nicholson s' Davies, J. S. de Monealk. J. Wilson / R. Townley. L. H Townley. W. Morßs W. T. Baker. J. Somers. W. Wells n‘ Carson. It was agreed that those present would use every endeavour to ensure the return of Mr. Mackenzie to the Harbour Board.
