ROTORUA GOLF TITLE (From Oar Own Correspondent) ROTORUA, Thursday. The Rotorua ladies’ golf tournament was concluded to-day, the winner being Miss M. Payton, who defeated her sister Miss S. Payton, 4 and 3, in the final. The semi-final in the morning resulted: —Miss M. Payton defeated Mrs. Nolan, 2 up; Miss S. Payton defeated Mrs. J. M. Wilson, 3 and 2. In the afternoon the Misses Payton met in the final. The first three holes went to Miss M. Payton, and the fourth to Miss S. Payton. The next was won by Miss M. Payton. The rain, which : began about this stage, was making play difficult. At the tenth hole Miss S. Payton had reduced her opponent’s lead to two. but at the thirteenth Miss M. Payton was 4 up. Rain was now falling heavily The next two holes were halved, and the game ended in Miss M. Payton’s favour, 4 and 3. TITIRANGI LADIES’ CLUB In a bogey match at Titirangi yesterday the best cards were:—Seniors: Mrs. Russell, I up; Mrs. O’Leary. 1 down; Miss Goldvvater, I down; Miss G. Easton, 2 down. Juniors: Miss Duder. 5 up; Mrs. Spinley, 2 down; Miss Moody, 3 down; Mrs. Joplin, 3 down; Mrs. White, 3 down. CLUB OPENINGS Several clubs will open their seasons to-morrow. These include Titirangi, Glendowie and Otahuhu, the usual mixed foursomes being arranged for each place. HOCKEY IN THE NORTH DAKGAVILLE, Thursday. The election of officers of the Northern Wairoa Womens’ Hockey Association resulted; —President, Mr. C. B. Wykes; vice-presidents, Misses Wallace, P. Finlayson, M. Montgomery, and Rev*. N. O. White: secretary and treasurer, Miss N. Sills; auditor. Miss L. Watson; selectors, Messrs. T. Cossar, James Montgomery and Wyke. The name of the association was changed from Ivaipara to Northern Wairoa, as it was considered that the former name gave a wrong impression of the district concerned.
