NOTES Mr. and Mrs. A. ,T. Burrell, of Bunnythorue, are quests at the Albert Motel. Mr. and Mrs. W. Weir, of London, and Mr. and Mrs. de St. Mars, of Paris, are at the Grand Motel. Mrs. Ahier, of Takapuna. who has been visiting friends in the Waikato, has returned to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. W. Bosley, of Kaipara, and Mr. and Mrs. Jonassen, of Thames, are staying at the Royal Motel. Mrs. F. E. Levy, of Owens Road, Mount Eden, has returned to Auckland after a visit to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. C. Moffett, of Picton, and Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Cash, of Marton. are staving at the Star Hotel. Miss Eva Payne, of ‘Dunedin, is at present visiting he.*~ sister, Mrs. Dudley Gordon, of Pukehana Avenue, Epsom. Mrs. T. doll, of Auckland, left by the Marama this afternoon to spend a holiday wiPj her sister, Mrs. Rayment, in Sydney. Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Wakeman, of Taihape, Mr. and Mrs. J. Hargrave, Mr. and Mrs. H. Mardcastle, of Rotorua, and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Price, of Thames, are at the Central Motel. Mrs. J. Hunter and Miss Molly Hunter, of Dunedin, who have' been spending a short holiday in Auckland, returned South on Wednesday evening. Miss Anita Webster, of Shelly Beach R-oad, Herne Bay, who for the past three weeks has been seriously ill, following an operation, is now progressing toward convalescence. She is in the “Rawlingston” private hospital, Grafton Road, and is now fit to receive visitors. FAREWELL PARTY A farewell party was given on Monday at the residence of Mrs. George Hyauiason, Norfolk Street, to Mrs. Ray Bellringer, who Is leaving Auckland to tako up her residence in Christchurch. During the evening items w'ere given by Mrs. R. Bellringer, Mrs. R. Dickinson, Miss J. Jenkins, Miss Tupp, and Mr. Tupp. Mrs. Hyauiason received her guests wearing a frock of navy pleated georgette, with gold and cherry embroidery. Mrs. Bellringer was in beige satin, with black appliqued satin roses. Among those present were: Mes(lames Woodjer (Wellington), Ritter, McLeod. W. Woodjer, Tupp: Misses Gilmore, Ritter, and Tofkington. A GUEST OF HONOUR , Mrs. Tanton, of Melbourne, who has been visiting Auckland, where she formerly lived, was the guest of honour on Wednesday at a farewell party given by Mrs. J. Fotheringham, of Kitchener Road, Milford, prior to her return to Australia on Friday. To receive her guests, Mrs. Fotheringham wore a smart beige frock of crepe satin. Her sister. Mrs. Mair, assisted her. The lounge, where tea was served, was effectively decorated with pink flowers. Those present included Mrs. Julius Williamson, Mrs. Fred Brown, Mrs. W. J. Napier, Mrs. Frank Macky, Mrs. Fraser (Melbourne), Mrs. Shaw, Mrs. Matthewman and Miss B. Mair. PRESENTATION AT ONEHUNGA Women members of the Onehunga Presbyterian Church met yesterday afternoon to say farewell to Mrs. Charles Foxcroft, who is about to take up her residence in Greymoutli. The Rev. D. D. Scott, in presenting Mrs. with a Bible and a ring, referred to her long association with the church in which she had taken an active interest, and also to the practical sympathy she had always evinced toward those in need. Mrs. Foxcroft, he said, had a special aptitude for finding out and assisting those deserving people who oft-times do not proclaim their distress from the housetops. During the afternoon Mrs. John Craig sang several solos. On Tuesday afternoon the busy bees, under the supervision of Mrs. C. W. Ross, presented Miss Rita Foxcrofe. who is also leaving Onehunga with her family, with a leather attache case. CITY MISSION SOCIAL On Wednesday evening a social arranged for the City Mission was held, when an excellent programme of items , was arranged by Mrs. Bethune. The artists assisting were: Mrs. Barclav, Miss May Judd, Miss Mavis Riley, Mr. Carr and Mr. Jury. Among those present were: Mrs. Bethune, in a black satin frock, with crimson flower and black Spanish shawl. Miss M. Bethune, white crepe de chine and turquoise flower. Sister Pat, green crepe de chine and lawn lace. Miss Mandeno, jade green crepe de chine and gold lace. Mrs. L. Timewell, beaded crepe de chine with shoulder posy. Mrs. J. Sharrott, navy blue silk crepe frock. Mrs. I. Pearce, frock of navy blue georgette. Mrs. Gall, black crepe de chine and scarlet shoulder posy. Mrs. Smithers, black georgete and black and gold lace overdress. Mrs. McPeake, black velvet and gold lace. Miss Purdy, rose crepe de chine and silver trimmings. Miss Sommerville, blue velvet and blue shawl. Mrs. Beryl McGregor, black beaded georgette. Mrs. Manning, navy frilled frock, with fawn relief. Mrs. Oakes, navy blue georgette. Miss L. Jacobs, shell pink crepe de chine. Miss E. Oakes, nile green crepe de chine and cream lace. Mrs. Montgomery, black georgette with cream lace. Miss W. Sharp, blue silk raarocain with fawn relief. Mrs. Wilkie, black georgette over pink georgette. Miss Brownhill, black lace 1 rock. Miss Valler, floral crepe de chine. Miss X. Porritr, flame georgette with satin drapings. Miss E. Haskell, pink chenille georgette and hand-painted shawl. Miss X. Norton, royal blue crepe de chine. Miss A. Handcock, blush rose shot taffeta. Miss Gwen Siddle, rose pink taffeta and si’\er lacr. Miss Greenwood, cinnamon crepe de chine and coffee lace.
21ST BIRTHDAY The cominer of age of Miss Hope Dixon, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Dixon, of - Willoughby Farm,” Pirongia, was celebrated on Tuesday. Over 00 guests were present. Songs by Miss Dell and Master Ronnie Dixon, recitations by Miss Gwen Buchanan, a reading by Mr. Dixon, and a pianoforte solo by Miss K. Eyre, contributed to the enjoyment the evening.
