AUCKLANDER APPOINTED

CROQUET BUTTONS

MANAGER OF SAMOAN ESTATES REORGANISATION WORK Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. The Prime Minister announced today the appointment, as manager of the reparation estates in Western Samoa, of Mr. S. J. Collins, of Aurkland. The appointment is a temporary one for the purpose-of the investigation and reorganisation, and on the conclusion A>f his service in Western Samoa Mr. Collins will join the New Zealand Public Service. Mr. Collins was previously accountant of the estates.

COMPETITION CONCLUDES MRS. KEYS WINS A GRADE In spite of the bad weather conditions, the council of the Xew Zealand Bowling Association managed to keep its schedule and arranged the playoff of the semi-final and the final of its silver button competition yesterday afternoon. The final of the A grade resulted in a win for Mrs. Keys after a very close and interesting game with Mrs. Cole. The B and C grade honours were won by Mrs. Hawkin and Mrs. Brookes respectively. At the conclusion of the afternoon’s play Mrs. Schnauer presented the buttons to the three successful competitors. Details of the A grade play are as follow Semi-final —Mrs. Keys. 13, 26, 36, beat Mrs. White, 26, 20, 12. Final—Mrs. Keys. 9. 26, 26, beat Mrs. Cole. 26. 2Q. 11.
