FAREWELL TO MINIS T
METHODISTS AT TAKAPUNA REV. G. B. HINTON’S WORK Takapuna Methodists recently assembled in force at the Methodist Church to bid farewell to the Rev. G. B. Hinton, who is leaving after four years’ ministry in Takapuna to take charge of the Dunedin Mission. Representative members of the congregations made feeling reference to the splendid spiritual and material progress made by the circuit during Mr. Hinton’s ministry, also to the great work done by his wife. On behalf ot members of the congregation, Mr. Hinton was presented with a substantial cheque, and best wishes for his success in his new field of labour were expressed. Concert items were rendered by the Misses E. Arthur, Archibald, Corfe, and Whittaker, and Mr. Frank Sutherland. The choir, under the baton of Mr. Petty, also gave some much appreciated items. Advantage was taken of the gathering to present a silver entree dish to Mr. T. B. Arthur, who is retiring from the office of circuit steward after many years of service. The Rev. H. L. Richards will succeed Mr. Hinton at Takapuna. Mr. Richards was recently stationed in the Nelson district, and will preach his first sermon in Takapuna on March 21.
