TAX ANOMALIES
AUSTRALIAN TROUBLES New Zealanders frequently . complain about their motor regulations, but they have no experience of one of the anomalies experienced by their fellow-motorists in Australia. rpHB manner in which the existing system of car registrations in the various Australian States without any reciprocity operates is illustrated by cases quoted by the National Roads and Motors Association of Sydney. A lorry owner registered his vehicle in Victoria on December 21 last, paying £45 in that State. He Is now required to transfer to New South Wales, where he will be required to effect a fresh registration without receiving any rebate from Victoria. A private car-owner registered in New South Wales was required to pay nearly £lO on removing his registration for the following year, even though he intended to leave permanently for South Australia the following week.
