Lost on the Road
Varied Articles Lost by Sydney Motorists Most motorists have had the annoying experience at some time of losing things like petrol tank caps during a run. To help motorists in such a position the prominent motorists’ organisation of Sydney inaugurated a “Lost and Pound” service and published a long list of lost articles in their magazine every month. A survey of the last two or three months reveals that the articles most, frequently listed are number plates, particularly rear plates. Second, on the list are radiator badges, with petrol tank caps a good third. Sydney motorists seem to be particularly careless as the usual monthly list contains a long and most extraordinarily varied list_ of lost articles, including the following:—Tyre gauge, ladies’ kid gloves, films, gold sleeve links, string of pearls, sugar bag containing clothes, bag of Ford tools, “pink hymn book,” petrol tank caps (several), hub caps (3), spare Dunlop tyre, with rim, right bumpei’ette, handle of window, spectacles fseveral pairs), “part Pom. dog (tan),” wallet containing licence, auto tent, canvas dust cover, tin of ointment, lunch carrier and picnic hamper, radiator caps (several), set of fierarms (Winchester repeater and Browning automatic), tartan rug.
