GIFT TO DARGAVILLE

BULLER’S NEW ZEALAND BIRDS (Front Our Own Correspondent) DARGAVILLE, To-day. A copy of Dr. Buller’s book of New Zealand Birds has been presented to the Dargaville Municipal Library by Mr. Edwin Harding. This great work of research was completed in 1873, and an edition de luxe was issued by private subscription about 10 years later, limited to ICO subscribers, Mr. Harding being one. After the edition was completed all the valuable plates were destroyed, the gift, therefore, being very exclusive. As several copies are known to have been destroyed since, the estimated value of sound editions is now £l5O.
