(From Our Own Correspondent) TAUMARUNUI, Monday. Late at night and in the early morning, men in football togs are to be seen loping along King Country roads. The footballers have commenced training for the new season, and there are prospecets that the game will boom in the district this year. At the annual meeting of the Taumarunui Sub-Union, Mr. A. E. Rice was elected unopposed to the position of president. Mr. W. Thomas lias been elected a life member of the union. Officers: President, Mr. A. E. Rice; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. W. Beresford and J. Rae; secretary, Mr. J. Lynskey; treasurer, Mr. B. Marker; Management Committee, Messrs. R. Hoskin, C. Otto, K. Skilton, W. Miles, W. Melrose and J. Butler (one vacancy to fill); auditor, Mr. Sam Sarah: delegates to King Country Rugby Union. Messrs. C. Otto, J. Butler and W. Melrose; seniors’ selector, Mr. A. E. Rice: juniors’ selector, - Mr. G. Robinson; third grade selector, Mr. K. Kelland. At the annual meeting of the King Country Rugby Referees’ Association the chairman. Mr. W. Melrose, reported that Mr. Simpson, a former chairman, had been appointed a vicepresident of the X.Z.R.A. Officers were elected: President, Mr. W. Melrose: secretary, Mr. B. Marker: treasurer, Mr. W. Miles, delegates to the King Country Rugby Union. Messrs. R. Hawkes, W. Melrose and G. Robinson: delegate to the sub-union, Mr. G. Robinson. The result of the Cup fixtures, 192 - 1 3 929, for the cricket contests staged by the recently-formed Kaitieke Sub-As-sociation was:—Manson’s Siding 21 points, Raurimu 13, Kaitieke 11, Owhango 8, Oio nil.
