BOARD’S WEEKLY REVIEW The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received the following market report from its London office, dated April 5, prices for the previous week being in parentheses:— Butter New Zealand: Salted, 160 s to 162 s (162 s to 1645); exceptional, 1635; unsalted, 164 s to 168 s (168 s to 170 s); first whey, 152 s (1545); second whey, 150 s (1525). Deliveries New Zealand this •week, 1,400 tons; in store, 5,750 tons. Australian: Finest salted, 154 s to 158 s (158 sto 160 s); unsalted, 15Ss to 162 s (162 s to 1645). Argentine: Finest unsalted, 150 s to 154 s (156 s to 158 s). Dutch: Unsalted, 204 sto 2065. Polish: Salted, 135 s to 152 s (1525); unsalted, 1465. Market slow. Retail prices unchanged. Danish: F.0.b., 155 s (156 sto 1575); spot, 162 s to 164 s (164 s to 168 s). Market firm. Cheese New Zealand: White and coloured, 86s to STs (SBs to 00s). Deliveries New Zealand this week, 14,500 crates; in store, 157,000 crates. Canadian: White, IOSs to 112 s (108 s to 112 s); coloured, 106 sto 108 s (106 s to 110 s); exceptional, 110 s. Australian: White, S4s to Sss (S6s to S7s); coloured, Sts to 86s (S7s to 88s). Market quiet. Retail prices unchanged. English: Finest farmers', 142 s to 144 s (142 s to 1445). North American Market The board has also received advice from its agents in Canada as follows: Butter: New York, 45 cents (Is 10£d); Montreal, 44 cents (Is lOd). Stocks in Britain The estimated stocks of all butters in public stores in Great Britain at April 2 were 5,483 tons, compared with 31,100 tons last year. Estimated stocks of cheese at London, Liverpool and Bristol at April 2, compared with last year, were:—Canadian. 78,500 boxes, 17,000 boxes: New Zealand and Australian, 135,900 crates, 101,800 crates. Shipping Arrivals The Port Hobart finished discharging butter on March 28. The Corinthic commence to discharge cheese on April 2, and finished on April 4. The same vessel commenced to discharge butter on April 4. The Cumberland commenced to discharge cheese on April 2 and butter on ! April 4. The Mahana commenced to discharge cheese on April 2 and finished on April 4 Merchants’ Reports Merchants report receipt of overseas cables as follow: — A. H. Ltd., dated London, April s:—Danish butter, 162 s to 1645: New Zealand, unsalted butter, 164 s to 16Ss; salted, 160 s to 1625. Market slow.
