BLOW FOR JUSTICE
HEAVY SENTENCE ON BRUTAL FARMER (United. Service) . CAPETOWN, Saturday. The lashing is not to be administered to the Transvaal tanner who was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for tying a native to a tree and then breaking his ribs and breastbone with stones, as a result of which the native died, until the Prime Minister, General Hertzog. and his colleagues have carried out an investigation. The "Cape Argus,” commenting on the case, says the judge struck a blow for justice which will reverberate throughout Africa. The "Rand Mail” says no matter what developments ensue it is a gratification to all right-thinking people that an exemplary sentence was passed on a brutal fellow’.
